“ …Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5;7
Thought for the Week:
Have you ever been confronted by a wild animal, amphibian, spider or reptile? I have. When you live in Florida for half the year, like I do, you see snakes, alligators and bugs all the time. I was also informed that a bear was spotted around our “Beartown Road” neighborhood in upstate New York this summer. Fortunately, I missed him.
More often though, the big scary things we face in life are emotional, mental, or spiritual.
But regardless of the source of trouble, we’re told in the verse that comes right before today’s verse, to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, and in due time, he will exalt us.
How different this approach is from our first instincts, huh?! When trouble comes, we want to depend on ourselves. We want to make the circumstances change! But this verse says, “Don’t do it.” Humble yourself and duck under the mighty hand of God. He’ll cover you. And he’ll pick you up if you need it too.
Then today’s scripture gives us this beautiful piece of instruction – “Cast all your cares upon him,… for he cares for you.”
Hey! He cares for you! Did you get that? He cares for all of us… enough to give the utmost sacrifice.
So when the verse which follows today’s verse, talks about the devil walking around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour… We’re covered!
When we remain under our heavenly Father’s mighty hand, we’re safe.
Let’s cast all of our cares on Him. He cares for every one of us! (You can take that one to the bank! The price of our rescue has been paid in full.)
